Experts across the Country, development Partners in the Agriculture and Food Security, Monitoring and Evaluation Officers, Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET), and other relevant stakeholders have converged on Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory for the 2024 Oct/Nov 2024 Cadre Harmonise National Validation/Consolidation and Result Presentation workshop.

The event which planned to come up with a technical solution or initiative that will address food security in the Country is organized by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security with the Technical Partner from Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), Food and Nutrition Security Analysis CiLSS, AGRHYMET, World Food Programme (WFP) among other partners.

Speaking at the opening session of the workshop, the Deputy Director, Monitoring and Evaluation and National Coordinator, CH Analysis, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Amu Anthony, said the purpose of the workshop is to come up with an analysis that will use to identify the situation of farmers at risk.

He said “The purpose of the analysis is to identify the situation of the farmers,  the vulnerable farmers at the risk of food and nutrition, insecurity in respective States so that at the end of the exercise, we will identify the food situation in those states and were are able to call on decision-makers to make intervention programme to address the situation.

“With the various noble policies of the present administration which are tailored toward a reduction in insecurity, farmers will be able to have access to the farmland.

“That is why we have a crop change analysis and humanitarian monitoring situation analysis that is used in this exercise to identify certain areas that are inaccessible”, the Deputy Director said.

In his remarks, the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization, Monitoring and Evaluation Accountability Learning Specialist, Mr. Amos Chinyama, the event was an important exercise which is coordinated by the Government of Nigeria and designed to identify needy areas.

The FAO Official said, “The way it had been coordinated since 2015 is that the Government and Partners come together, work together to identify the food-insecure population, the food-insecure Local Government Areas, the food-insecure States.

“This is important in terms of planning the intervention, the response which Government needs to be assisted by the Non – Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and the United Nations”.


“So, the meeting that is convened now is to disseminate results which are projecting the period from 2025 June to 2025 August in terms of food insecure people the result which everyone is going to contribute to this meeting”, he said.

High points of the well-attended meeting were presentations by each state present and clarifications from participants.
