Major commercial activities stood still Saturday as thousands of residents of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State Capital trooped out on the streets to welcome the former Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Dame Julie Eniekedo Okah – Donli, who arrived Beyelsa State from Abuja where she had collected both the expression of interest as well as nomination forms for the Bayelsa Central Senatorial District position.

Dame Julie Okah- Donli who is also the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the United Nation Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Trafficking in Persons, is contesting the Senatorial Seat of Bayelsa Central under the umbrella of the ruling All Progressive  Congress (APC).



She was earlier received at the Beyelsa International Airport by prominent party chieftains in the State, several youth groups, combination of market women and other traders within the Bayelsa Central Senatorial District, Religious Leaders and large numbers of other card carrying members of the party amidst celebration.

After the elaborate airport reception, the convoy of the Senatorial aspirant moved to the palace of His Royal Highness, Sir Major Gen. Graham. P. Nainagba, (Rtd), JP, the Amanana Owei of Amassoma Community for royal blessing before the kick-off of the full electioneering campaign.

Speaking at the Palace of the Royal Father, Dame Julie Eniekedo Okah – Donli, informed the King of her determination to represent the Bayelsa Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly in order to promote the rapid development of the District.

She therefore asked for the support of the King in the set mission.

In his response, the Royal father gave her his blessing and asked the people of the District to support her.

Dame Julie Eniekedo Okah – Donli is a major contestant for the position and has been well favoured by all due to her antecedent both within the Country and globally.

Few days ago, a combination of youth groups across the Senatorial district had openly endorsed her candidature and promised to ensure her overwhelming success in the election.



One of the Youths who spoke with Exodus News Crew in Yenagoa said “When we learnt that Dame Julie Eniekedo Okah – Donli has decided to contest for the Bayelsa Central Senatorial district in the next election, we were happy. This is because this is a woman who is very active, responsive and vibrant. She loves the people of Bayelsa State so much.

“We have decided to queue behind her and have even commenced grassroots mobilization of entire Youths in the district for her. The women trust her, the men support her and even the aged in all the communities in the District are fully behind her. This is why we trooped out to the airport to receive her today”, Mr. Donald Macaulay said.
